The Rise of the Villains -The Young and the Restless
Dear readers, did you know that Disney World is about to add a new land focused solely on villains? Yes, you heard me right. A land celebrating the delicious evil of Cruella de Vil, Ursula and Jafar. A place where Captain Hook and Gaston can frolic freely.
We love to hate villains in our stories, without them, there is no conflict, and nothing for our heroes to conquer. Villains make the story more interesting.
So, I applaud the Young and the Restless teaming up Ian Ward and Aunt Jordan. Colleen Zenk and Ray Wise are solid golf together. Not one deranged psycho, but two are now roaming around town in various wigs and disguises wreaking havoc on the citizens of Genoa City.
They have joined forces to torment their enemies and so far, they are succeeding. Someone tampered with Sharon’s meds and laced them with PCP, and someone ran Phyllis off the road. We don’t know yet which villain did which crime, but we know that they have each vowed to help the other one get revenge on their enemies.
The best part is, both characters are certifiably nuts and watching them try to outcrazy each other is delightful viewing. We know that one of them will turn on the other soon, and my money is on Aunt Jordan to come out as the victor villain.
Jordan is furious that Claire has landed in the lap of luxury and is soaking up the opulence that the Newman and Abbott families are heaping upon her. Meanwhile, Ian is skulking around trying to eavesdrop on conversations involving Sharon Newman to see is Mariah and the rest of Sharon’s family is suffering sufficiently enough.
I keep wondering if perhaps we have a trifecta of villains and if Cameron Kirsten somehow survived and is actually alive, too. After all, Sharon has been talking to him for months, in deep and extensive conversations – if we discovered now that Cameron was a hologram talking to her from behind some Wizard of Oz curtain all this time, I would be giddy. I am at the point where I barely blink when soaps don’t make sense. The writers routinely toss out old storylines to twist things the way they want them to go, so why not this?
If I asked too many questions, I’d have to ask why no one has informed Nikki and Victor that Jordan has escaped, and how Ian Ward is out of prison, and if one of them is secretly working at a pharmacy tainting pills for Sharon with each refill.
But, best to just kick back with some Cretor’s Cheese and Caramel popcorn and let it all unfold as we laugh.
I guess I’m just in a diabolical villain mood right now. I am thoroughly enjoying these two kooky and dangerous characters mixing it up and throwing some excitement into the endless cycle of corporate takeovers on the Young and the Restless.
Also, a hunch- when Sharon goes for hypnosis with Alan Laurent, perhaps we will find out that Alan is actually his evil twin Martin. Can you imagine?
Stay tuned! - Tamilu
